Bio

About Me
With a career spanning academia, entrepreneurship, and commercial industry, I specialize at the intersection of genomics, bioinformatics, and applied animal science. My focus is on transforming raw biological data into strategies that improve animal health, performance, and global food sustainability.

Academic Foundations
I hold a B.Sc. in Veterinary Medicine, an M.Sc. in Animal Breeding & Reproduction Biotechnology, and a Ph.D. in Animal Production (Cum Laude). Early in my career, working at Wageningen University & Research, I contributed to large-scale international projects like OPTIBOV and IMAGE. There, I helped deliver tools and datasets that are now used by breeders, nutritionists, and industry partners worldwide.

Entrepreneurship & Terrestrial Livestock
Driven by a desire to bring research into the commercial sector, I co-founded DataOmics, a consultancy providing tailored genomic and multi-omics solutions (from variant discovery to epigenetic profiling) for clients across the livestock, feed, and biotech sectors. Following this, I served as a Molecular Genomics Researcher at CRV B.V., integrating population genomics and advanced analytics into dairy and beef breeding strategies to enhance herd performance and feed efficiency.

Current Focus: Advancing Aquaculture
Today, I am a Bioinformatician at Hendrix Genetics, specializing in aquaculture and salmonid genetics. In this role, I leverage complex genomic data and advanced bioinformatics to accelerate genetic progress, disease resistance, and sustainability in aquatic species.

From cattle to salmonids, my goal remains constant: turning complex multi-omics data into real-world solutions that benefit animals, producers, and the environment
